Lily Moore

Lily Moore, 20, grew up in a small seaside town in the United Kingdom, where she spent nearly every moment in the water – whether diving below the surface in search of marine life or simply floating and observing the ocean around her. It was there that her deep-rooted passion for the ocean first began.

She is currently a junior at the University of Miami, Florida (UM), pursuing a B.S. in Marine Science and Biology. After earning her open water SCUBA certification in 2021, Lily instantly felt a sense of belonging beneath the surface. Driven by that connection, she became a PADI Divemaster in 2023. Most recently, she earned her American Academy of Underwater Sciences (AAUS) scientific diver certification and now works with a coral restoration lab at UM, where scientific diving plays a key role in daily research and conservation efforts.

Lily’s ultimate goal is to protect and explore as much of the ocean as possible, sharing its wonders with others to help strengthen the bond between people and the marine world.

She is honored to have been selected as the 2024 AAUS Mitchell Scientific Diving Research Intern and looks forward to gaining hands-on experience, diving in new environments, and building lasting relationships within the scientific diving community.
