Imogen Parker, 22, grew up in Sea Cliff, Long Island, awed by the horseshoe crabs and moon shells animating the horizon. At 13, through NAUI, Imogen became Advanced SCUBA certified with an Underwater Imaging specialty in the colorful kelp forests of Catalina Island, Calif., and is currently a Rescue Diver aiming to become a Master Diver. At age 16 they enrolled in Bard’s Early College program at Simon’s Rock in Great Barrington, Mass., graduating in May 2023 after double majoring in Environmental Science and Visual Studies. Their senior thesis involved building a wetland trail and timber framed outdoor classroom to share in the wisdom of nature and community.

After college, internships in terrestrial conservation brought them to Idaho and Maui where they collected data on beavers and endangered seabirds, and were struck by the vitality of our waterways. Currently, Imogen assists in teaching coursework at Simon’s Rock in Daoism & Taijiquan and leads a Freshwater Ecology Lab group focused on macroinvertebrate identification and eDNA sampling, while also organizing a kickball league and working in ceramics. Imogen is over the moon to be joining the REEF team, eager to contribute to its mission of marine conservation and education!
