Abby L. Perry is from San Francisco and has grown up exploring and surfing along the California coast. She will graduate from Duke University in May 2027 with a B.S. in marine science & conservation, and minors in photography and journalism & media studies. Abby is passionate about marine conservation through documentary storytelling and science communication, combining visual media with field-based research.

Abby earned a PADI Divemaster certification in Hawaii in 2024 while contributing to coral conservation research through conducting photogrammetry and monitoring surveys. Abby has a deep appreciation for the underwater world and enjoys exploring diverse marine environments—from coral reefs and kelp forests to historic shipwrecks.

Growing up visiting National Parks across California and the United States, Abby developed a lasting connection to these protected spaces. As a diving intern with the National Park Service’s Submerged Resources Center, she looks forward to supporting research, conservation efforts, and public engagement through both science and storytelling.
